Marks and Spencer Spring/Summer 2015 collection

4 Mar

Last week London Fashion Week came to Manchester for the first time as Marks and Spencer hosted the only official event outside London in its Manchester City Centre store.

I was invited along and, on arrival I felt the excitement and buzz as people started to queue for the first show. Of course, having a VIP invitation, I bypassed the crowds and was soon handed a goody bag (thank you Marks and Spencer for such a generous gift)  and a complimentary glass of fizz. Soon after, I was escorted to the frow and eagerly anticipated the start of the show! It was opened by M&S Style Director, Belinda Earl and, following this, we were treated to an exclusive film featuring British fashion expert, Caryn Franklin, showing the highlights and trends of London Fashion Week for Autumn/Winter 2015.

I have to say that I was mightily impressed with Marks and Spencer’s new collection. It was funky and fresh and also a little bit edgy. I was genuinely surprised at some of the looks I saw on the catwalk and would not have guessed in a million years that some of the designs were from good old M&S! There was not a waterfall cardi in sight! I have purchased the odd item of clothing for myself from Marks and Spencer in the past and always use the Market Street store for my Personal Shopping clients, but they will definitely be on my “go to” list from now on.

Of course, there was more than a nod to the 70s trend and there were some very chic outfits that would not look out of place in Paris or Milan, but what I loved were the bright florals that popped up frequently throughout the show.

So here is a selection of my favourite looks from the catwalk – all available in store between now and May. I already have my eye on that gorgeous sunshine yellow 50s inspired dress! That navy jumpsuit is sure to be a sell out. The cut was just beautiful and it has arm coverage yay! This is a very versatile piece to add to your Spring wardrobe that would take you from anything to a night out or a fancy wedding, just by cleverly switching accessories. If you are thinking of purchasing this then get in quick I say! Anything you fancy?

I must say it is great that Manchester is upping its fashion credentials and giving London a run for their money with the likes of the hugely successful Vogue’s Fashion Night Out last year, and now a collaboration with London Fashion Week! Let’s have more of this please!

Lovely feedback from Roberta!

It is always so touching when clients take the time to send me some feedback and Roberta’s was no exception – to be honest it brought a little tear to my eye! I visited Roberta at home to assess her wardrobe and managed to create quite a bit of space before our Personal Shopping trip in Manchester the week after.
“Well, yet another successful trip! I am so pleased with everything we bought and with how my wardrobe’s looking compared to last winter, so many things to choose from. I’m sure that the Wardrobe Consultation made all the difference, helping us to focus on the gaps we need to fill and now, decided what to wear is so much easier without all those “not worn for ages” items in the way.
I finally found a black tunic, from M&S on-line. It goes really well with the sapphire cardigan and compliments the B & W jacket perfectly.  I ordered the shoes with burgundy heels you found; just the compromise between style and comfort I was hoping for. I bought the shoulder pads you suggested. They make my cardigans look much more elegant.
I’ve had the teal dress shortened to a less frumpy looking just above the knee and now it looks great with that fabulous plumb cardigan. Once again, a colour I would never have gone for but now it’s one I’ll look out for. I went back to Monsoon but the tunic you thought might be of interest was a little too long. I am just about to have my Hobbs jeans altered. I think I have found the place you suggested. Still looking for a black handbag (so many of them are covered in gold) but I think I’ve decided on one now.
I was wondering if I could order the Stella & Dot Odette pendant. I think you’re right about it going with many of my outfits, and also the Stella & Dot Riviera coin earrings to go with the Maxi dress we bought in summer. Let me know what I would need  to do and how long they usually take.

So, I’ll close with another big thank you for all your input. With your guidance helping my to get it right I’m really starting to enjoy clothes again.”
