All Change!

16 Sep

I have been a bit quiet lately as I have been busy moving house. Believe me, THE most stressful thing ever. I have not moved very far but have lots more space. Things are slowly starting to get back to normal and I am accepting consultations once again in my new studio.

So, as the seasons are changing, I have had a couple of other little changes too! I now have a new website that includes some extra new virtual services – Capsule Wardrobe and Personallised Pin Board. I am also now a fully trained Advanced Face Yoga Teacher, offering a brand new service which will compliment everything else I already offer, helping you to be the THE BEST YOU – more of this below.

My new website will soon incorporate a “One Stop Style Shop” which will be my accessories store, where you can purchase jewellery, scarves, etc, just in time for Christmas!

So, please take a look and tell me what you think! Click on my new logo below.

So yes, the exciting news is that I am now a fully qualified Face Yoga Teacher! I started practicing the Danielle Collins Method of Face Yoga about 6 months ago and I began to see the results in about 2 weeks. Once you know the correct techniques, your only investment is 20 minutes of your time each day to achieve a more youthful, glowing face. Think about it. We all know that if we want a lean and toned body, we must exercise the muscles. Well, the same is true for the face so why stop at the neck?

susan-styles-you-danielle

The Danielle Collins Face Yoga Method is a simple combination of facial exercises, acupressure and massage, which not only helps to tone and lift the muscles, increase circulation and the production of collagen and elastin, but also gives a feeling of wellbeing and relaxation.

I am offering 90 minute 1 to 1 consultations at my studio for the price of £95. Included in the price is a Danielle Collins wall chart worth £10 to take away with you so you can practice at home. As a special introductory offer, if you book before the end of October, you will receive a Danielle Collins Pro Lift Facial Moisturising Serum worth £27.99.

Ti Sento Jewellery

24 Jun

susan-styles-you-tisento_fb_pic

At the beginning of the Summer I was invited to the Ti Sento flagship store in the Trafford Centre to take a look at their collection.

To be honest, I had not really paid any attention to the beautiful, sleek, white, sparkly shop up until now as their collection is silver probably because I am a gold girl and it wouldn’t generally be on my radar. However, I was not disappointed.

The shop itself is beautiful and inviting. It definitely has a high end feel without the high end prices and the staff are very approachable and friendly. You know sometimes when you enter a designer shop and you feel distinctly uncomfortable as you meet the frosty glares of the staff? Not at Ti Sento.

So, Ti Sento launched its first collection in early 2003 and the brand has continued to stay on trend and in fashion. It is well known across Europe and is already well established in the UK. It is great that they chose Manchester to have their flagship store rather than London!

The collection of rhodium plated sterling silver jewellery contains rings, wrist wear, necklaces and earrings in stunning designs and dazzling colours. Ti Sento is an Italian brand which means “I feel you”. All their jewellery is designed to make the wearer feel ultra special. All the stones are hand set and each piece has a romantic and feminine feel with a contemporary twist.

I was impressed by the wide range of designs on offer. If you love simple, delicate pieces or bold, statement pieces there is something for you!

The jewellery is meant to mix and match so you can change your look. Their ear charms are so clever.  you can keep your look understated with a simple hoop for the office and then pile on the bling for cocktails after work! How gorgeous are these?

I loved their Spring/Summer 2015 collection, Il Giorno Nuovo, which was a welcome burst of colour. They have taken inspiration from light, colours and structures and the jewellery reminds me of the ocean and beautiful sandy beaches.

My favourites, though, are the cocktail rings – simply gorgeous! I will definitely be adding one to my collection very soon.

If you are looking to treat yourself or you are looking for a keepsake or gift for a loved one, why not pop in to Ti Sento at the Trafford Centre? I have already taken a couple of Personal Shopping clients into the store and they love it! You will be sure to find the perfect gift – which comes in a beautiful presentation pouch to make your shopping experience extra special!

Glitter in gold or sparkle in silver?

28 Dec
Glitter in gold or sparkle in silver?

New Year’s Eve is almost upon us and that can only mean one thing it’s PARTY time!!!

Whatever your plans are for this New Year’s Eve, it is always fun to glam up a bit more than normal – and add a little sparkle and bling! Have you chosen your outfit yet? If not, I wanted to give you a few tips on how to look amazing this New Year!

Most people have an overall “Warm” or “Cool” appearance. For some people, it is much easier to determine. For example, red heads are usually “Warm” and anyone with silver, grey or platinum hair is usually “Cool”. For others, it might not be so obvious. As a redhead, I know that I look awful in silver and that gold lights up my face, making me look fresh, alive and, well, just more healthy!

Wearing something with a blue base or cool undertone just drains me, makes my teeth look yellow, emphasises my fine lines and makes me appear pale and sickly. Yuck! Let’s look at jewellery. If you think you have colouring similar to me, you should choose stones such as coral or golden toned pearls. Stone colour should focus on more earthy tones such as browns, oranges, greens, yellows, peaches, corals. Anything turquoise will look fab on you.

The best eyeshadow colours for you are browns, oranges, yellows, coppers, and, of course, gold. Go for a peachy blush and an orange based red lip.

Somebody with a “Cool” look, will not look their best in yellow based colours which will make their skin appear sallow. However, wearing a blue based, cool colour will make them look radiant! Silver metal will make their face come alive and their face will become luminous and healthy. If this is you, choose white pearls or diamonds. Stone colour should focus on jewel tones such as pinks, purples, blues, reds, and magentas.

For your eye shadow, silver, grey, heather and mauve will all look amazing. Keep your cheek colour pink based and for your lips, a blue based red or cool pink will look stunning.

Of course, just to confuse matters, you *could* be neutral, in which case you have the best of both worlds and will look fabulous in either.

Have a fab New Year’s Eve and see you in 2015!

Not sure? Have I confused you even more? Why not book in for a Colour Consultation and be prepared to be AMAZED at how fabulous you can look in colour!

Warehouse Manchester Arndale A/W2014 Preview

3 Sep

Last week I was invited along to Warehouse at Manchester Arndale to see their new A/W2014 collection.

So, after been greeted by our fab host, Dom, and given our VIP passes, we were served prosecco and cupcakes as we perused all the lovely new clothes on the rails

The first thing to say is that, if you bought a dusty pink coat last A/W, you can breathe a sigh of relief as it is just as on trend this year as last. Soft pastels in candy floss pink and sweet ice-cream shades in lots of fluffy textures were everywhere and Warehouse have rocked it up a bit by pairing it with black.

I loved the 60s inspired “gangster’s moll” collection. This look is so easy to wear, combining leather and lace together effortlessly.

Another one of my favourite looks was this preppy look with cute pinafore dress and white shirt. I loved the clever addition of white sandals so it can be worn now. When the weather gets cooler just swap the sandals for a cute pair of pumps. I think it would look great with a pair of coloured opaques rather than too much black.

Coords (that’s a top and skirt or top and trousers in the same print) are big news this season and what’s not to love! They are so versatile. They can be worn together or separate. I think this little top would look fab with a pair of red skinny jeans.

Anything take your fancy?

We all got together for a hilarious group selfie:

We were given £50 to spend on the night I quickly zoomed in on a print pencil skirt and then found this gorgeous statement necklace that matched it perfectly. I went out for dinner last night and teamed them with a cobalt blue top and sandals from Zara plus a cute little clutch from Stella and Dot.

Thank you to Warehouse, Manchester Arndale, Helen Seed Pr and Leanne Forshaw Jones PR, plus the amazing Dom, who has given me my favourite new word “Smasual”.

Chasing Rainbows …

11 May
Chasing Rainbows

I don’t know about you but I am getting a bit fed up of this weather. Sun, wind, rain, sun, wind, rain, and over and over. It is very irritating! So how are we supposed to dress in all kinds of inclement weather and still look stylish at the same time?

Let’s start with the basics. I think the key is to keep your colour scheme pretty neutral and a few bright accessories to liven things up.

Grab yourself a tailored raincoat in a pretty colour like this one from Warehouse. This lightweight crepe mac features a draped front, self-tie belt to the waist and a bold colourway; ideal for spring. Underneath I have chosen a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans – still a key trend this Spring/Summer. These ones are from H&M. Add style and luxury to your basics with this soft cashmere Vince jumper from Liberty. The elegant loose fit and versatile grey colour will make this piece an investment that will work hard for you and your wardrobe for seasons ahead.

A tough and sturdy ankle boot will keep your feet dry and still look stylish. These ones are from ASOS – the neutral grey colour will work with any outfit and will cute with pretty summer dresses and bare legs later on in the year. Now for the accessories. I have recently discovered the award winning British designer Helene Berman. She has a stunning collection of luxury women’s accessories which is synonymous with high quality, innovative and style. I just adore this poppy print scarf available at House of Fraser – it will add a touch of International chic. All of her scarves are producing using the finest silk chiffon and are individually hand rolled in an Italian factory. The scarves are generously portioned at 140x140cm so that they can be worn in any number of ways. From classic to modern, there really is the perfect scarf for every woman in this range. The cute heart shaped Zirconia studs are from Jou Jou at House of Fraser. A pair of statement sunnies will add a touch of glamour to any outfit and these ones from AJ Morgan at Asos are a bargain at just £15. Laser cut handbags are big news right now and I was delighted to find this metallic lovely at Jane Norman for a snip at £28.

Finally, the umbrella – look at this beauty! It really is daft to spend a lot of money on an umbrella, as, if you are anything like me, I am always leaving them behind in shops, restaurants, on the bus – the list is endless. This is a Fulton one available at John Lewis for just £17. The bright pink is a fab way to inject some colour into your outfit. It features a domed shape so that it can’t easily be flipped back by strong gusts of wind. Being transparent it means you can cover your upper body, but still see where you are walking. Genius! You may even look at the world in a rosy view whatever the storm you are battling.

Oh and I found this fab website called www.dailydressme.com where you can find out what the weather is going to be like for the week ahead in your area, and it gives you some great little outfit ideas to dress appropriately. I am addicted to it! Here is their outfit suggestion for Tuesday in Manchester. Follow them on Twitter @

So, there you have it, how to dress for a sunny and windy and rainy day. Dark clouds be gone!

Hello Beautiful!

8 May

What is your definition of beauty?

Yesterday I was invited to the launch of Selfridges #beautyproject in Exchange Square. This was the beginning of a 6 week long project of talks, debates and beauty related events.

I arrived on time and was given the most adorable limited edition Tatty Devine wristband to wear and keep.

susan-styles-you-tatty-devineThe place was fairly quiet at this time, so armed with a cute cocktail, I had a quick wander around and decided on a makeover at the Nars counter.

As I was being made up it started to get a lot busier with the most amazing hoola hoopers and a fab DJ set from Broken Hearts who looked awesome!

I absolutely loved my make-up, especially my eyes, using soft touch shadow pencil in Hollywood Land and eyeliner pencil in Kaliste. I loved the products so much I bought them! It was a great event and I loved my make-up so much I didn’t want to wash it off 🙂

Over the next few weeks you can have a private consultation with Armand Beasley for £75 (redeemable against any purchase) you can have a one to one with him over a glass of bubbly – how cool is that!

Plus over the next few weeks you can book onto a number of exclusive, inspiring and challenging talks looking at different aspects of what it means to be beautiful and the beauty industry. The talks take place at Selfridges Exchange Square and will include:

Thursday 8 May: Journalist Bim Adewunmi talks to actress Zawe Ashton (best know from Channel 4’s Fresh Meat) in ‘Carefree Black Girls’: Beauty Ideals, Cultural Aesthetics and Creativity – discussing the narrow standards of what constitutes ‘black (and mixed race) beauty’ in the media, the tentative return of TV’s ‘Carefree Black Girl’ and how beauty translates across different audiences.

Thursday 15 May: With 64-year-old Jessica Lange starring in the new Marc Jacobs Beauty campaign and 68-year-old Charlotte Rampling set to be the new face of Nars, is the time of women over 50 feeling ‘invisible’ to the beauty industry over? Fashion industry expert and diversity campaigner Caryn Franklin hosts a conversation with Helen Walmsey-Johnson (The Guardian’s Invisible Woman) and Jody Furlong (one of London’s top casting directors) about the relationship between beauty, brands and the older woman in Who are You Calling Invisible? Beauty and the Older Woman.

Wednesday 21 May: An exploration of the transformative powers of make-up and the role of beauty work in the creation and expression of gender and identity – with Dr Sally Hines (Professor of Sociology and Gender Studies at Leeds), Grace Oni Smith (make-up and drag artist) and Cheddar Gorgeous (drag performer, visual artist and Manchester academic) in We’re Born Naked, The Rest is Drag; Identity, Fantasy and Beauty Beyond Gender.

Wednesday 4 June: In The Good, The Bad and the Beautiful, journalist, broadcaster, Guardian columnist and founder of the award-winning salihughesbeauty.com, Sali Hughes will be in conversation with writer Emma Jane Unsworth and fashion historian Amber Butchart, discussing the rituals, history and effects of beauty work and examining its place in modern feminism.

All talks will take place in San Carlo’s Farmacia del Dolce (LG) and tickets are priced at £15 – which includes a glass of wine and tasting plate of San Carlo’s signature dishes. Tickets will be available from w/c 21 April and can be purchased online (www.selfridges.com) or in store

Soft Florals

15 Apr
Soft Florals

Do you have dark blonde hair and eyes that are soft and muted like Kylie? This is for you.

Because your look is blended, your colours need to be worn “tone on tone” with little contrast.

This relaxed and lightweight soft floral dress is perfect for your colouring. Florals continue to be a popular choice for this Spring and this one is currently on sale, reduced from from £235 to £120 at Kate Spade. Layer it up with an unstructured suede jacket in a neutral colour like this one from Mango. I have added these sweet little floral earrings from Dorothy Perkins – a bargain at just £6.50. Continue the romantic theme with this gorgeous jumbled hearts bangle from cwonder.com. You can’t go wrong with a Michael Kors watch and I just love the twist on this one with a green face.

With brighter days ahead, ditch the boring black handbag and go for a colour. This Radley tote is clean and sophisticated – a look that will take you effortlessly from office to dinner. It is currently on sale at John Lewis from £229 to £183.

Complete your chic Spring look with these contemporary wide-strap sandals from Debenhams. The heels are just high enough to be stylish but comfortable too. Block heels are a big trend too!

Confused by colour? You need to be colourised!
