Pastels on Parade

Pastels are catwalk regulars and this Spring they’re everywhere. Colours good enough to eat in sugar- spun hues of mint, fondant ink, baby blue, lemon, parma violet are all over the High Street right now. This season though, pastels are slightly vibrant – not soft. This makes it easier for darker skin tones to wear. Pastels remind us of romance and innocence. Don’t expect to be taken too seriously when wearing pastels, so I wouldn’t recommend the look for an important meeting or an interview! If you have dark hair and dark eyes, some pastels may make you look washed out or pallid. You can still incorporate a touch of pastel into your outfit, like your nail varnish or a piece of jewellery. Or you may choose to mix your pastels with a darker neutral. If you have a softer, lighter colouring you can work the look with your whole outfit. The current way to do pastels is to choose a different pastel shade for each item. Your interpretation of the trend doesn’t have to be girly girly though. If your Style Personality is more of a Natural, you can give the pastel trend a sporty look. Choose skinny jeans, a crop top and some cute trainers.

This trend is definitely fun and a great way to brighten up your look for Spring.
