Summer Holiday Style

7 Jul

Going on holiday? Hurray! Good for you! I’m jealous you are escaping this disastrous weather! However, has the nightmare begun yet? Oh dear what to pack. Well I have a few little tips to help you. I have learned over the years of travelling that, like most ladies, I used to take FAR too much stuff “just in case”. There really is no need to pack 7 different outfits for night time.

First of all, try to keep to two colours at most. That way most things will coordinate.

Assuming you are going to a hot climate I would suggest two pair of shoes is all you need. Really. One pair of flip flops or gladiators and one pair of blingy wedges for evening. Try to find some that are metallic rather than a colour. They will go with all your outfits.

Choose swimwear in a neutral colour that will double up as tops under shorts or jeans like the one here. TOP TIP – choosing a one piece with panelled detail down the front will give the illusion of a slimmer waist! There are lots of retro 50s inspired ones around at the moment for added poolside glamour.

Maxi dresses scream “holiday glamour”. Pack one in the brightest of colours (Aztec prints are so on trend this Summer) that you can wear dressed down in the day time with your flip flops and sunglasses. Rock it up in the evenings with your wedges, a splash of lipstick and your favourite Stella and Dot statement necklace. This Vallen pendant is so chic and great value at only £32.

An embellished kaftan will double up as a beach cover up in the day time and then a fabulous evening outfit with a smart pair of white jeans or trousers.

Make sure you plan in your beauty treatments well in advance. Get your tootsies beach ready with a lovely bright colour -choose neon pink or fuschia if you have a cool skin tone or bright orange for a warm skin tone. Save on make-up by having your eyelashes tinted and throw in your suitcase a Colour Me Beautiful Tinted Moisturiser and Cream Blush and you are good to go!

Some tips for the airport. Try to wear a loose dress and flats with minimal jewellery rather than jeans and heels. It will save time at the scanners. There is nothing worse than having to remove belts, heels, necklace, bracelets etc. If you are taking a hat (make it a trilby or Panama – cowboy hats are so last season darling) wear it to travel in to save it getting squashed. Invest in a large, stylish tote that will double up as your carry on bag and will also be your beach/pool bag when you arrive. Of course, no holiday wardrobe would be complete without a pair of glam sunnies and pack a Colour Me Beautiful pashmina, in your colour, in your hand luggage. The orange one is my favourite for holidays in the sun. Planes sometimes can get a bit chilly and your pashmina will come in handy for cooler evenings during your holiday. All Stella and Dot and Colour Me Beautiful products can be purchased directly through me.

So that’s about it – you are ready for the airport! Have a fantastic time and don’t forget the postcard!
